Explanation

  • A remote control is a small piece of equipment that you hold in your hand and use to adjust (for example, turn on/off, turn up/down, or change the channel on) another piece of equipment (such as a TV or stereo) that is not attached to it.

    Be Careful! The shortened form of remote control is remote, NOT “remocon” like the Japanese リモコン.
  • remote control は、手で持てる小型の装置で、テレビやステレオなどの電気機器の電源を入れたり切ったり、音量を上げ下げしたり、またはチャンネルを変えるなど、遠隔で操作するのに使われます。

    注意: remote control の短縮形は remote です。日本語のように「リモコン」と省略して言うことはありません。
