  • To appreciate something or to BE grateful for it is to feel that you want to thank someone for it.

    Be Careful! Appreciate is a verb. So we say, for example, “I appreciate it.” NOT “I'm appreciate it.”
  • appreciate や be grateful は、何かについて、誰かにお礼を言いたいと思う、つまり、感謝している、という意味です。

    注意:appreciate は動詞です。ですから、“I'm appreciate it.” ではなく、“I appreciate it.” が正しい使い方です。

  2. (meeting with the principal of your child's school)
    I really appreciate your time. I know how busy you must be.
  3. We appreciate your coming on such short notice.
  4. (to a neighbor)
    I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't practice trumpet in the middle of the night.
  5. (to a customer who has lost his credit card)
    a: We'll send you a new card right away.
    b: Thank you. I'm grateful.
  6. It's one of the top universities in the country. My daughter is so grateful for the chance to go there.
  7. I wasn't able to accept the invitation, but I was grateful to be asked.
  8. He's nearly 100 years old. He's just grateful that he still has his health.
  9. I'd be grateful if you could check my English for me. This is a really important letter.
