Are you familiar with the expression "No pain, no gain"? It means that you usually have to work for things you really want. Today we talk about the work that must be done to get the skills that thrill!

Today's Lesson


  • To practice  is to do something - such as play piano, dance, or do sports - in order to develop skill in that area.

    The noun practice  means this activity.
  • practice  は、技術を向上させる目的で何か(ピアノの演奏、ダンス、スポーツなど)を行う、つまり、練習するという意味です。

    名詞形も practice  です。


  1. I try to practice  at least 30 minutes a day. Someday I'd like to be a pianist.
  2. The harder you practice, the better you become.
  3. The only place I can practice  the trumpet is down by the river. The neighbors complain when I practice  at home.
  4. It's important to practice  English every day if you really want to speak well.
