Explanation

  • Animation (uncountable) is the art or process of making an animated movie or similar moving image.

    Hand-drawn animation is animation made by filming a series of pictures drawn or painted by hand (= using pen and paper or similar materials).

    Computer-generated animation is animation made by using a series of images created on a computer.
  • animation とは、アニメ映画や同じような動画を作成する手法、またはその過程をさす、数えられない名詞です。

    hand-drawn animation とは、（ペンと紙などの素材を使って）手で描いたり、色づけしたりした絵を使って作成したアニメ映画のことです。

    computer-generated animation と言うと、コンピュータ上で作られた絵を使って作成したアニメ映画、つまり、CGによるアニメ映画をさします。
