IN EFFECT   効力のある

Explanation

  • If a rule, law, policy, etc., is in effect or effective, it is in use.

    To come into effect or go into effect is to become effective.
  • 規則や法規、政策などについて in effect または effective と言うと、それが実施されている、つまり、効力があるという状態をさします。

    come into effect または go into effect は、効力を生じる、という意味です。

  1. (supervisor to employee)
    Company e-mail accounts can't be used for personal business. I'm surprised you didn't know that, since the rule has been in effect since May.
  2. (sign on clubhouse door)
    As of October 1st, the clubhouse will be open from 10 to 3 Monday through Friday and from 10 to 8 on weekends. This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.
  3. The new fire regulations will become effective on January 1st.
  4. (notice on airline Web site)
    Effective immediately, passengers will be limited to one piece of carry-on luggage.
  5. (fictional news report)
    The unemployment rate has changed little since the national minimum wage came into effect.
  6. (restaurant owner)
    It's hard to know what impact the public ban on smoking will have on business until it goes into effect.
