Explanation

  • Publicity is public or media attention, the activity of creating such attention, or material or information provided to the media in order to create such attention.
  • publicity は、世間やメディアの注目を集める活動、または、注目を集めるためにメディアに提供される資料や情報のことです。

  1. The movie has gotten a lot of extra publicity since it won Oscars in all four acting categories.
  2. (a company executive talking about a famous pop singer)
    Can you believe it? I mean, on prime-time TV she tells the whole country that her favorite ice cream is Berlitz a la Mode. Now that's great publicity!
  3. Although the kickback scandal generated some bad publicity for the company for a while, the public seems to have already forgotten about it.
  4. As media interest in this year's mayoral election is low, candidates have had to rely heavily on paid publicity.
