- A steeple is a tall, pointed tower on the top of a church building.
A cross is a symbol of the Christian church with a shape similar to the Japanese character for “ten”(十).
- (in southern England)
Can you see the tall steeple over there in the distance? That's Salisbury Cathedral. - Let's go up to the steeple. All the Christmas lights around the city are really pretty from up there.
- There was an enormous wooden cross hanging from the ceiling at the front of the church.
- My brother brought me back a lovely souvenir from Mexico - a necklace with a turquoise cross on it.
Stay jolly!
