GO UP vs. CLIMB 上る/登る
- To go up is to move to a higher place.
When a person goes up something using his hands and/or feet, we can also say he climbs it. - go up は、高いところに移動する、つまり、上る/登るという意味です。
手や足を使って上る/登る場合、climb と言うこともできます。
- It took us only five minutes to go up Mt. Takao in the cable car.
- It took me three hours to climb Mt. Takao.
- Have you ever gone up the Empire State Building in New York?
- My favorite scene in the movie is when King Kong climbs the Empire State Building.
- a: Where's the restroom?
b: Go up the stairs and it's the first door on your right. - My father's getting old. It's even hard for him to climb the stairs these days.
