2006.11.22(Review of 2003.04.11 edition)

Wednesday greetings to you!

Would you enjoy having the freedom to pick and choose the work you do? If so, then here's a popular working arrangement that you may want to consider!

Today's LessonCATEGORY: ジャパニーズイングリッシュ

  • To freelance or “work freelance” is to work for a number of different organizations, sometimes at the same time, and be paid for a finished product or for hours worked rather than a monthly salary.

A freelancer is someone who works freelance.

Be Careful! We do NOT use the word “free” like the Japanese フリー to mean freelancer.

  1. I've been freelancing for five years now. Sometimes I miss getting a regular salary every month, but not enough to go back to working for just one company.
  2. If you decide to work freelance, you'll have less security but a lot more freedom.
  3. Maybe you should wait until you have a little more experience before you go freelance (= start working freelance).
  4. Terry's a successful freelance photographer.
  5. He worked for a computer software company for ten years before becoming a freelancer.
