For Life

Hello, and welcome to the Friday WordMaster! We end this week's series by turning things around a bit. Here's a nice expression to know when you're on the receiving end of a “thank you”!

Today's LessonCATEGORY:
IT (IS/WAS) NOTHING

  • A polite way to answer when someone says “thank you” is It's nothing or It was nothing, which mean “There is no need to thank me.”
または It was nothing.

  1. (to a friend who has just returned from Bali)
a: Oh, you didn't have to bring me back something!
b: It's nothing, really, just a little souvenir.
  2. a: I appreciate your spending so much time with me today.
b: Oh, it was nothing. I enjoyed it.
  3. a: How can I ever thank you enough?
b: There's no need to thank me. It was nothing.

Wow! That was SOMETHING, wasn't it!
