Sometimes all you need to do to express your opinion is to give the thumbs up or thumbs down. But since this is WordMaster - not GestureMaster - we'll teach you how to SAY what you think instead!

Today's Lesson


  • To be in favor of a plan or idea is to support it or agree with it.

    To be opposed to a plan or idea is to disagree with it.
  • in favor of は、計画や考えを支持する、それに賛成する、という意味です。

    opposed to は、計画や考えに異議を唱える、つまり、反対する、という意味です。


  1. Nearly every employee in the company is in favor of the new dress policy. It's sure to be approved.
  2. Although I voted in favor of the merger at first, I am now strongly opposed to it. I think it would be a terrible mistake.
  3. The union is opposed to the proposed wage cut and is threatening to strike if it is approved.
  4. How can you be opposed to hiring temps and yet complain about all the overtime you have to work?
