Explanation

  • A drink is caffeinated if it has caffeine (= the chemical in coffee that makes people more awake and energetic).

    A drink is decaffeinated if the caffeine has been taken out. Decaffeinated coffee is sometimes called decaf.
  • caffeinated とは、飲み物にカフェイン（コーヒーに含まれる化学物質で、眠気を覚ましたり、神経を活性化したりするもの）が含まれている、という意味です。

    decaffeinated は、飲み物からカフェインが取り除かれている、という意味です。Decaffeinated coffee のことを、decaf と呼ぶこともあります。
