  • A seminar is a meeting (or small college class) where people study, train, or exchange ideas with an expert (or teacher).

Be Careful! The expression “zemi” (ゼミ) is Japanese-English and is NOT used to mean seminar.

  1. Max Berlitz is going to be in town tomorrow. He's giving a seminar on recent developments in foreign language instruction.
  2. Her management seminars are always sold out months in advance.
  3. She's taking courses in Japanese and Japanese cinema, as well as a seminar in Chinese literature.
  4. My classes in graduate school are a lot different than the classes I took as an undergraduate. First of all, most of them are in small seminar rooms instead of large lecture halls.
