Explanation

  • A degree is a TITLE or RANK given by a college or university to someone after they have successfully completed a course of study.

    A diploma is a DOCUMENT that shows you have successfully completed a course of study at a university, high school, or other school.

    Be Careful! You can receive a diploma from many kinds of schools, but you can only receive a degree from a college or university.
  • degree とは、課程を無事に修了した学生に対して、大学が授与する称号、つまり、学位のことです。

    diploma とは、大学、高校、その他の学校で、課程を無事に修了したことを示す書類、つまり、卒業証書や修了証書のことです。

    注意: diploma は、いろいろな種類の学校で取得することができますが、degree を取得できるのは大学のみです。
