  • If food or drink ferments, or if you ferment it, yeast or bacteria break it down into simpler substances, often including alcohol.
  • 食べ物や飲み物について ferment もしくは、人が ferment を使う場合、多くは、酵母やバクテリアがアルコールを含む、より単純な物質に分解すること、つまり、発酵する、発酵させる、という意味です。



  1. When I make homemade yogurt, I let it ferment for about 8 hours before putting it in the refrigerator.
  2. Wine that's fermented in barrels can often take on some of the flavor of the wood.
  3. Miso, soy sauce, and natto are all fermented soybean products.
