ANCESTOR   先祖、祖先


  • An ancestor is someone in your family who lived a long time ago; for example, your great-great-grandparents.

    The adjective form is ancestral.
  • ancestor とは、例えば自分の高祖父母のように、ずっと昔に生きていた自分の一族の中の誰か、つまり、先祖、祖先のことです。

    形容詞形は ancestral で、先祖(祖先)の、という意味です。



  1. My ancestors came to America from Italy.
  2. I've been spending a lot of time at the Central Library these days trying to find out more about my ancestors.
  3. I'm going to Scotland soon to visit the town where my father's ancestors lived.
