Well, there's no denying it now - fall is here! If you're a long-time reader of WordMaster, we don't need to tell you how much we love this season - there is no time of the year that is more sublime. We hope we'll have the pleasure of your company for the whole season!

Speaking of times of the year, we thought this would be a good time to do a series on the word “time”. ... Time to begin, don't you think?

Explanation

  • To have a good time is to enjoy yourself.

    We can replace “good” with other words, like “great”, “nice”, and “wonderful”.

    We can also replace “time” with other words - for example, “weekend”, “holiday”, “birthday”, etc. - to tell someone to enjoy themself over the weekend, during the holiday, on their birthday, etc.

    Be Careful! These expressions are often used when saying goodbye.
  • have a good time は、楽しむという意味です。

    good を great や nice、wonderful に置き換えてもよいでしょう。

    time を、weekend や holiday、birthday などに置き換えれば、楽しい週末、休暇、誕生日などを過ごすと言うことができます。

    注意:以上の表現は、別れの挨拶としてもよく使われます。
