(パドルを使って)漕ぐ vs. (オールを使って)漕ぐ
- To paddle (verb) a canoe, kayak, or other boat is to move it across the water with a paddle.
To row a boat is to move it across the water with oars. - 動詞の paddle は、パドルを使って、カヌーやカヤックなどのボートを漕ぐ、という意味です。
row は、オールを使ってボートを漕ぐ、という意味です。
- Have you ever tried to paddle a canoe upstream (= against the current)? It's hard work!
- How long do you think it would take to paddle across the lake in a kayak?
