- The price (noun) of an item is the amount of money you have to pay for it.
To price (verb) something is to set a price for it. - 名詞の price は、ある商品に対して支払うべき金額、つまり、価格のことです。
動詞の price は、価格を設定する、という意味です。

b: Yes, but did you see the price? $400! We can't afford that. - Check out this Web site. They sell brand-name cosmetics at discount prices - some for as much as 50 percent off the list price (= price suggested by manufacturer).
