EXCITED vs. EXCITING
興奮した、わくわくした vs. 興奮させる、わくわくさせる
- To be excited is to feel very happy and enthusiastic.
Something is exciting if it makes you feel very happy and enthusiastic.
Be Careful! These two words are very often confused. Just remember that only a person can be excited, because excited describes a feeling. The person, thing, or situation that makes you feel that way is exciting. - excited は、とてもうれしかったり、夢中になっている状態のことをいいます。
exciting は、何かが人をうれしくさせたり、夢中にさせたりする、という意味です。
注意：この２語は混同されることが多くあります。excited は、感情を表す単語なので、人についてしか使えないことを覚えておいてください。わくわくした気分にさせる人やもの、状況については exciting を使います。
- You're leaving for Spain next week, aren't you? You must be excited.
- a: Is Betsy excited about her birthday party tomorrow?
b: Yes. She can't wait. - Jenny and I got very excited when we learned that she was pregnant.
- Seeing Johnny Wow in concert was very exciting.
- What an exciting match that was!
