Explanation

  • To submit a report, application, proposal, etc. is to give it to someone to consider.
  • submit a report（報告書）や application（申請）、proposal（企画）などと言うと、検討してもらうためにそれらをだれかに渡す、という意味になります。

examples

  1. We submitted our proposal two weeks ago, but we're still waiting for approval.
  2. The deadline for submitting applications has already passed.
  3. All questions must be submitted in writing. We're sorry, but we're not able to take questions over the phone.
  4. All franchises will be required to submit quarterly financial reports to the home office.
  5. a: Who do I submit my Vacation Request Form to?
    b: Your supervisor. If he approves it, then he'll submit it to HR for final approval.
