Here's another "family" word you'll want to know, but probably didn't learn in school!

HALF-(BROTHER) 片親が違う(兄弟)
- Your half-brother or half-sister has the same father or mother as you, but the other parent is different.
- half-brother または half-sister は、片親が違う(血のつながりが片親のみ)兄弟、姉妹のことです。
- a: Is Mark really your brother? He doesn't look like you at all.
b: Well, he's my half-brother. We have the same dad, but different mothers. - a: Alice can't be Robert's sister. They don't even have the same last name!
b: She's his half-sister. She was born after his mother remarried. - (Keiko, Yuri, and Masaki are all in high school)
Keiko: Is Masaki your half-brother?
Yuri: No, he's my stepbrother. His dad married my mom last year.
