- The thaw is the period of warmer weather, usually in or around spring, when the snow and ice from the winter melts away.
Something that is frozen thaws when it becomes soft or liquid again because of a rise in temperature.
To thaw something that is frozen is to cause it to become soft or liquid again by increasing its temperature. - thaw は、暖かくなって雪や氷が溶け始める早春の季節のことです。
動詞の thaw には、温度上昇によって、凍ったもの が解ける／を解かす の両方の使い方があります。
- The thaw came early this year. Look, even the snowcap on Mt. Fuji is almost gone already.
- You won't be able to travel over that road until the spring thaw. Snowplows don't cover that route.
- The lake's starting to thaw so they've closed it off to skaters and skiers.
