Welcome back! Although trains are some of the safest forms of transportation around, they do have the occasional accident. And like airplanes, when accidents occur, the number of people involved often makes them especially deadly and tragic.
This Tuesday edition concerns one kind of disaster that can occur on the rails.
- When a train derails, it falls off the tracks, often causing injury to passengers. Also we can say that something, such as a crash or damage to the tracks, derails a train.
- derail は、列車が線路から外れる、つまり脱線するという意味です。乗客がけがをすることがよくあります。また、脱線させるという意味にもなります。
