How was your weekend? Ours was uneventful, but peaceful. It becomes very clear that such a weekend is a real blessing when we consider all the terrible things that can (and do) happen to people.
This week, we continue to introduce the words and expressions used to talk about accidents and disasters.
- When a vehicle crashes into something, it hits something with great force, often causing damage or loss of life.
- crashes は、乗り物が何かに激しくぶつかること、つまり衝突すること(飛行機の場合は墜落)です。死傷者が出ることがよくあります。

- Plane crashes always make the headlines.
- My best friend was killed in a (car) crash last year. She'd been drinking.
- Mechanical failure caused a train crash near Osaka late last night.
The next time you get into a car, please don't forget to fasten your seatbelts.
