Hello again! We're glad you could make it. Today we have another WordMaster that talks about words often used incorrectly by Japanese. We hope it's a useful reminder for you. |
When saying the word salad, from which the Japanese wordサラダ (salada) comes, be careful not to add an "-a" to the end.
Also, the Japanese word サンド(for example, ツナサンド) becomes sandwich in English.
日本語の「サラダ」は、英語のsaladからきていますが saladの発音をするときには、語尾に-aが付かないように注意しましょう。
例えば「ツナサンド」などと言うときの「サンド」は、英語のsandwichからきています。英語では-wichの部分を省略して言うことはありません。
1. I try to eat a large salad every day. It keeps me healthy and light.
2. What kind of dressing do you use on a Caesar salad?
3. a: What kind of sandwich would you like? b: A ham sandwich on whole wheat, please. | We're looking forward to seeing you again tomorrow! |
