Hello! Today is a national holiday in the U.S. -- Labor Day. It's a day for workers to relax and enjoy one of the last days of summer.

HOW ARE YOU?    お元気ですか

When we say "hello" to a person we have met before, we often ask How are you?. Instead of always answering, "I'm fine," why don't you try some of these other phrases too?

- So so.
- Not (too) bad.
- I'm well.
- Good.
- I'm great!

知り合いに挨拶するときに、よくHow are you? (お元気ですか)と聞きます。いつも I'm fine(元気です)とばかり答えていないで、ほかの言い方もしてみましょう。

―まあまあです。
―悪くないです。
―元気です。
―元気です。
―とても元気です!

1. a: Hi, Trevor. How are you?
   b: Not bad. And you?
   a: Good, thanks.

2. a: Good morning, Mr. Baxter. How are you today?
b: I'm well, thank you. How about you?
a: I'm great! I'm really enjoying my new job.
Enjoy the day!
